Lang Co and Bach Ma fit into two days and one night from Da Nang, but the road to the Bach Ma summit has a landslide at km 12, so visitors walk about 7 km. Entry conditions and options for young children are covered.

Lang Co and Bach Ma can be combined into two days and one night from Da Nang, but the Bach Ma day is no longer what it used to be: the road to the summit has a landslide at km 12, motor vehicles cannot get through and visitors walk about 7 km up to Hai Vong Dai. This guide lays the plan around Sun Travel’s rate table entries (Da Nang to Lang Co about 40 km, Da Nang to Bach Ma about 65 km), states the national park’s conditions of entry from its latest notice, and shows how to choose if your group includes young children or older relatives.

Driving entries from the rate table

Leg (one way) Distance and time in the rate table
Da Nang to Lang Co (through the Hai Van tunnel) about 40 km, 1 hour 30 minutes
Da Nang to Bach Ma National Park about 65 km, 1 hour 30 minutes
Hoi An to the foot of Bach Ma about 95 km, 1 hour 30 minutes
Hoi An to Lang Co bay and Lap An lagoon about 70 km, 1 hour 30 minutes

The rate table has no Lang Co to Bach Ma entry. The difference between the two entries from Da Nang is about 25 km (65 minus 40), but that is only a derived calculation, not an official entry, and dispatch confirms it again for your travel date. One-way rates are on the pages for a private car from Da Nang to Lang Co and a private car from Da Nang to Bach Ma National Park. The two-day, one-night programme has no listed all-in rate, so a quote is prepared for each plan.

Conditions of entry to Bach Ma from the latest notice

According to the notice updated on 25 December 2025 by Bach Ma National Park, the park reopened from 1 January 2026 but the road to the summit has a landslide at km 12 and motor vehicles cannot pass. Visitors walk about 500 m across the slide and then about 7 km up to Hai Vong Dai, arrive at the Visitor Centre before 9:00 to join a guided group, and return by 17:00 the same day; staying on the summit needs registration at least one day in advance. The newspaper Tien Phong on 21 June 2026 still reported the road as unrepaired. According to nbca.gov.vn, the national park lies at about 1,450 m above sea level and has a viewing platform at the summit overlooking Chan May bay. Hai Vong Dai stands at about 1,450 m with a view of Lang Co bay (according to nbca.gov.vn). Because this situation can change, check the park’s current notice before you travel. The Bach Ma National Park travel guide carries further updates.

Day 1: Da Nang, Lang Co, Lap An lagoon

An illustration, not a fixed schedule:

  • 8:00: the car collects you at your Da Nang hotel; 1 hour 30 minutes in the rate table to reach Lang Co.
  • The rest of the day in Lang Co: the beach, and Lap An lagoon, which covers about 800 ha at the foot of Phu Gia pass near Highway 1A; see the guide to the Lap An lagoon and Lang Co stopover. Seafood from the lagoon and the sea is part of the experience here, but this guide does not name restaurants because each one needs its operating status checked.
  • Evening: stay overnight in Lang Co; your accommodation is for you to choose.

Day 2: Bach Ma, then back to Da Nang

  • Around 7:00 or earlier: leave Lang Co to reach the Visitor Centre before 9:00, as the park requires. Dispatch needs to confirm the driving time because the rate table has no separate entry.
  • During the day: walk up to Hai Vong Dai with a guided group. With about 7 km going up, the total walking up and down is around 14 km (a sum from the one-way figure), so this is a day for people who can handle a steep path.
  • Before 17:00: back at the Visitor Centre. Taking the 1 hour 30 minutes from Da Nang to Bach Ma in the rate table as a reference for the way back, the group reaches Da Nang around 18:30 if the car leaves the park at 17:00.

If your group includes young children or older relatives, consider dropping the walk to the summit and spending day two on Lang Co and Lap An lagoon, or go to the park gate and read the notice before deciding. The park entrance ticket is charged separately by the managing body and is not part of the car rate.

The rainy season: consider moving the date

Heavy rain in Central Vietnam usually falls from about September to December, peaking in October and November. According to VnExpress on 29 October 2025, the Bach Ma summit once recorded 1,739 mm of rain in 24 hours. This is an example of an extreme downpour, not a forecast for the day you travel. Check the forecast for both Da Nang and the mountain area, and keep a plan for moving the date.

What to send so the plan can be settled

  • The Da Nang pickup and the drop-off; cars can enter the gates of hotels and resorts to pick up and drop off.
  • Your Lang Co accommodation if you have chosen it, and the date you want to go up Bach Ma.
  • The number of passengers, whether everyone can walk a steep path, the number of suitcases and the 4-, 7- or 16-seat vehicle.

The base rate for each route includes fuel, road tolls and parking fees on the listed route. The driver’s overnight stay, waiting time and stops are not included automatically and are set out in the quote. To continue to Hue, see the Da Nang to Hue 2-day, 1-night itinerary.
