Pass or tunnel: two different choices
The Hai Van Tunnel is 6.28 km long and opened on 5 June 2005; the tunnel and its approaches run over 12 km and cut the crossing of the range to about 10–15 minutes, against nearly an hour on the old 21 km pass road (Da Nang city portal and Vietnam News Agency).
