Private Car Rates from Da Nang and Hoi An to Imperial Hue City

Sun Travel’s rate table has three private-car entries to Hue: about 100 km and 2 hours 30 minutes from Da Nang, about 100 km and 2 hours 12 minutes from Da Nang Airport, and about 130 km and 2 hours 30 minutes from Hoi An. Rates are per vehicle, so the part worth reading closely is not only the figure in the rate box but also what a one-way entry leaves out: stops, waiting time, the return leg and whether you take the tunnel or the pass. This guide explains each of those so you can read a quote correctly.

The three Hue entries in the rate table

Hoi An is 30 km longer than Da Nang (130 minus 100) yet the table gives the same 2 hours 30 minutes, so the real time for the Hoi An leg needs dispatch to confirm it again for your travel date. What the rate covers and what it does not include automatically

• In the base rate: fuel, road tolls and parking fees on the listed route.
• Not included automatically: extra stops on the way, waiting time in Hue, the return leg, the driver’s overnight stay and admission tickets. These are set out in the quote or trip confirmation.
• No figure yet: the rate table does not say whether its 2 hours 30 minutes applies to the tunnel or the pass, and it has no time for stops.

How the tunnel or the pass affects the trip and the quote

According to the Da Nang city portal, the Hai Van tunnel is 6.28 km long, opened on 5 June 2005 and replaced the old pass road of about 21 km. The pass is about 500 m high, with Hai Van Quan built in 1826, according to public travel sources. Driving the pass usually lengthens the trip because of stops, and it depends on weather more than the tunnel does. Since the rate table does not say which road its time applies to, ask dispatch when you book, especially if you have a fixed flight or check-in. Stops that often go into the plan

A stop pushes back your arrival in Hue, so add it to the plan instead of trimming the buffer. Once you are in Hue: monument hours change with the season

The Complex of Hue Monuments was inscribed by UNESCO on 11 December 1993. According to the page of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre (posted 12 March 2024, checked on 1 October 2026), the sites sell tickets from 6:30 in summer (16 March to 15 October) and from 7:00 in winter (16 October to 15 March the following year).
