The private car route between central Hue and Phu Bai International Airport (HUI) is about 15 km, and the drive takes 20 to 25 minutes each way along Nguyen Tat Thanh street and National Highway 1A. The 20 to 25 minutes assume normal traffic. In the late-afternoon rush or on a day of heavy rain, allow about 10 to 15 minutes more so you still reach check-in on time.

Pickup and drop-off at Terminal 2, Phu Bai Airport

Terminal 2 separates the flows by level: arrivals on level 1 and departures on level 2.

• Taking you to the airport: the car drives up the elevated ramp and stops at the level-2 departures hall, right in front of the airline check-in counters.
• Collecting you at the airport: the driver follows the landing time of the flight number you provide. Once you have your checked baggage on level 1, call the driver and the car pulls into the pickup lane directly in front of the arrivals hall.

Choosing a vehicle by the number of checked suitcases

The drive from central Hue to the airport takes only about half an hour, so the deciding factor is the size of the luggage space:

• 1–2 guests on business or a short trip (at most two 24-inch suitcases): a 4-seat car is enough and moves easily through city streets and the narrow hotel lanes of the Western Quarter.
• A family of 3–5 with 3–4 large checked suitcases (24–28 inch), a pushchair or golf bags: choose a 7-seat car and fold the last row so all the luggage fits without piling bags on the seats.
• A group of 6–12, or guests carrying many boxes of Hue specialty gifts: a 16-seat van gives comfortable seating and easy loading at the Terminal 2 stopping lane.
