2 Days 1 Night Private Car Itinerary: Da Nang, Ba Na Hills and Hoi An
Two days and one night for Ba Na Hills and Hoi An: the mountain on day one, Hoi An on day two, then the Marble Mountains on the way back to Da Nang. Rate table entries, gaps and what to send are covered.
Table of Contents (5 sections)
Two days and one night is enough to give the first day entirely to Ba Na Hills, spend the second at an easy pace in Hoi An, and stop at the Marble Mountains on the way back to Da Nang. Sun Travel’s rate table has Da Nang to Ba Na at about 35 km and 45 minutes, Hoi An to Ba Na at about 55 km and 1 hour 12 minutes, and a one-day Da Nang, Ba Na, Hoi An programme running 8:00 to 18:00. This guide lays two days around those entries, says where the rate table has no figure, and lists what to send so the plan can be settled.
Driving entries from the rate table
| Leg (one way) | Distance and time in the rate table |
|---|---|
| Da Nang to Ba Na Hills | about 35 km, 45 minutes |
| Hoi An to Ba Na Hills | about 55 km, 1 hour 12 minutes |
| Hoi An to the Marble Mountains | about 20 km, 30 minutes |
| Da Nang to Hoi An | about 30 km, 40 minutes |
The rate table has no Ba Na to Hoi An entry; the 55 km and 1 hour 12 minutes of the opposite direction is only a reference, and dispatch confirms it again for your travel date. There is also no separate entry from the Marble Mountains to Da Nang. For one-way rates and the one-day programme see the page for the Da Nang, Ba Na and Hoi An day car tour and the private car from Da Nang to Ba Na Hills. The two-day, one-night programme has no listed all-in rate, so a quote is prepared for each plan.
Day 1: Da Nang, Ba Na Hills, Hoi An
An illustration, not a fixed schedule:
- 7:30: the car collects you at your Da Nang hotel; 45 minutes of driving in the rate table, so you reach the cable car base around 8:15 once a buffer is added.
- 8:15 to about 14:30: up to Ba Na. According to public travel sources (checked on 3 October 2026), the park opens roughly 8:00 to 22:00 and the hours can change, so check hours and ticket prices on the official channel. The Golden Bridge opened in June 2018, is about 150 m long and stands at about 1,414 m (according to Wikipedia), so it is cooler up there than on the plain.
- Around 15:00: back down, with the car waiting at the cable car base before driving to Hoi An. Taking 1 hour 12 minutes as a reference puts you in Hoi An around 16:30.
- Evening: check in and walk the old town. Hoi An was inscribed by UNESCO in 1999. Sources conflict on car access inside the old town, so arrange the meeting point outside the pedestrian area and ask your hotel first.
You can leave bags on the car or at the hotel before going up; leaving bags on the car is confirmed for each trip, and it is best not to leave valuables behind.
Day 2: Hoi An, the Marble Mountains, back to Da Nang
- Morning in Hoi An: a slow start, or the Tra Que vegetable village about 3 km from the old town (source noted on 30 September 2026).
- Around 10:30: leave Hoi An for the Marble Mountains (about 20 km, 30 minutes). According to public travel sources the site opens roughly 7:00 to 17:00; the east gate (Thuy Son) has 108 steps to Linh Ung pagoda, the west gate has 156 steps to Tam Thai pagoda, and a lift of about 43 m charges its own ticket. Ask at the counter for tickets and hours.
- Afternoon: from the Marble Mountains to your drop-off in Da Nang or the airport; this leg has no separate entry in the rate table.
If you have a flight on the afternoon of day two, count back from the airport arrival time set by your airline instead of keeping the sightseeing plan unchanged.
Where the rate table has no figure, and how to state it for a quote
- Waiting time while you are on Ba Na and the Ba Na to Hoi An leg.
- The driver’s overnight stay in Hoi An and how it is counted for day two.
- The return direction or extra stops, such as the Tra Que vegetable village.
These are not included automatically in a one-way rate and are set out in the quote. The base rate for each route includes fuel, road tolls and parking fees on the listed route. Your accommodation in Hoi An and park tickets are for you to choose and buy. For the scope of longer rentals, see the page on long-term car rental with a driver in Central Vietnam.
What to send so the plan can be settled
- The Da Nang pickup and the day-two drop-off (a hotel or the airport); cars can enter the gates of hotels and resorts to pick up and drop off.
- Your Hoi An accommodation if you have chosen it, and the time you want to come down from the mountain.
- The number of passengers, the number of suitcases and the 4-, 7- or 16-seat vehicle.
- Your flight time, or the time you must be somewhere on day two, if any.
To fit Ba Na and Hoi An into a single day instead of two, see the Ba Na Hills and Hoi An one-day tour guide and the Hoi An to Ba Na Hills day trip itinerary.
Common questions about a 2-day, 1-night Da Nang, Ba Na Hills and Hoi An car trip
Does the rate table give a time from Ba Na back to Hoi An?
There is no separate entry for this direction yet. The table lists Hoi An to Ba Na at about 55 km and 1 hour 12 minutes, used as a reference for the opposite direction, and dispatch confirms it again for your travel date.
Does the two-day trip include the hotel room and park tickets?
No. Sun Travel provides a private car with a driver; your Hoi An accommodation and your Ba Na or Marble Mountains tickets are for you to choose and buy. The base rate for each route includes fuel, road tolls and parking fees.
Can we leave bags on the car while we go up Ba Na?
Leaving bags on the car is confirmed for each trip. A safer approach is to leave bags at your hotel before going up and not to leave valuables on the car.
How is the driver's overnight stay in Hoi An counted?
The base rate is a one-way rate for each route and has no entry for the driver's overnight stay. How it is arranged and counted is set out in the quote or trip confirmation before you set off.
How should we change the plan if we have a flight on day two?
Start from the airport arrival time set by your airline, subtract the driving time and a buffer, then shorten or drop the Marble Mountains stop if time is short. Send the flight time when you book so dispatch can work it out with you.
