How to Travel from Da Nang Airport and Chu Lai Airport to Sa Ky Port

To reach Ly Son island from an airport you have two ways to land: Da Nang Airport, or Chu Lai Airport, which sits closer to Sa Ky port on the map. Sun Travel’s rate table has a private-car entry from Da Nang Airport to Sa Ky port of about 135 km and 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, but no entry from Chu Lai Airport to Sa Ky. This guide helps you choose an airport by flight times, work out the car time from your boat time and know what to ask when the flight and the boat fall on the same day.

Two airports, what is known

The rate table also has two entries to Chu Lai airport (about 90 km and 1 hour 48 minutes from Da Nang; about 75 km and 1 hour 30 minutes from Hoi An) but those are the direction to the airport, not to Sa Ky. With limited routes, Chu Lai only makes sense when your flight times fit; Da Nang suits you when you need more choice of flight times. Timing when the flight and the boat fall on the same day

The high-speed boat from Sa Ky to Ly Son takes about 30 to 40 minutes and operators run roughly 7:30 to 15:30, but schedules change by operator, season and sea conditions (according to public travel sources; checked on 3 October 2026). For Da Nang Airport add these up in order:

Landing time + time to leave the terminal + 2 hours 30 minutes of driving (the long end of the rate table) + the arrival time at the port set by the boat operator ≤ the boat time.

An illustration, not a fixed schedule: if the plane lands at 7:00 and you need about 45 minutes to leave the terminal (an assumed figure for someone with checked luggage), 2 hours 30 minutes of driving brings you to the port around 10:15; if the operator asks you to be there 45 minutes before the boat (also an assumed figure, so ask the operator), the earliest boat you can make is around 11:00. A flight landing around midday usually does not make a same-day boat, and then you need to stay overnight. Leave extra buffer for luggage and traffic if you do not want to depend on a single connection.

Pickup at Da Nang Airport

According to the airport’s information pages, after collecting luggage passengers leave the arrivals hall through gate A3 or A4. According to Sun Travel’s pickup guidance, Terminal 1 pickups are at columns 1 to 5 in the private-car lane opposite the ground-floor exit, and Terminal 2 pickups are in the international arrivals hall with a name board. Stops to consider, and what they cost in time
